TALKING HAIRDRESSING, BUSINESS, AND MOTHERHOOD ~ WITH SHERENE DASH OF "EMPRESSIVE UK "

Hi Sherene where are you from? My parents are from Barbados, my mother was culturally inspirational with literature african history and arts. My father has had more of a spiritual input, a balance that was misunderstood growing up but embraced as an adult. I was born and raised in East London with my 3 younger siblings. Now a mother of 3 living in West London. You're an entrepreneur and a mother of 3, how do you juggle the two? I enjoy both that definitely helps the journey. Nurturing comes naturally, I am an aunty to all the children who I am blessed to meet. Raising my own flesh and energy is whirlwind of a learning experience and being able to be flexible with my responsibilities means that most of time everyone is happy. Without family support of one kind or another I would find it much harder. How has motherhood enriched your life? Ahhhh the lessons learned here are plentiful. Motherhood changed my voice. It became smoother with a deadly bite. It grew louder. Motherhood fulfilled my dream of giving back something beautiful to the world and I have done so thrice! With each birth I grew. And with growth comes enlightenment. With enlightenment comes confidence. I'm still working on my journey, motherhood is now the backbone. What are you most passionate about? Me! I am passionate about a variety of things but ultimately my passion for myself is a driving force for everything I love from children to history, literature, nature, travelling, caring and sharing. Life! It is to be lived freely and lovingly Tell us about your Mobile Hairdressing Business EMPRESSIVE UK ? Hi Sherene where are you from? You're an entrepreneur and a mother of 3, how do you juggle the two?

I enjoy both that definitely helps the journey. Nurturing comes naturally, I am an aunty to all the children who I am blessed to meet. Raising my own flesh and energy is whirlwind of a learning experience and being able to be flexible with my responsibilities means that most of time everyone is happy. Me! I am passionate about a variety of things but ultimately my passion for myself is a driving force for everything I love from children to history, literature, nature, travelling, caring and sharing. Life! It is to be lived freely and lovingly Tell us about your Mobile Hairdressing Business EMPRESSIVE UK? (where did the idea come from/what styles do you do) The idea came from wanting to use my natural abilities to start a business from home. I could write or plait. So I decided to plait since my creative streak had done a disappearing act ( or so I thought). I had business cards printed and started handing them out. I am a pro natural hair stylist so I work mainly without heat or chemicals using natural products for hair maintenance From canerow to standard box braids to wool yarn twists to the now trend of crochet braids, clients can get the style they want in the comfort of their own surroundings. How does the service you provide impact others lives? Going into this I had no idea that my little service could bring such positivity into the lives of others. I have met some beautiful people and have in some way been able to bring back confidence in others. Working with children and the disabled community to feel good about themselves is a euphoric feeling and a great motivator to what I do. Knowing that the time spent with a client is valuable on many levels helps you to appreciate the privilege of being given the opportunity to empower and uplift another person.

What advice would you give to other mothers who are considering starting a business?

I would say DO IT, throw away your fears and do it. Surround yourself with people who can share your goal, help you grow, motivate you. Don't be afraid of failure, do not be discouraged. Write down steps needed and follow them. Don't rush just work through the steps, it will all come together in the end.

What are your plans for your brand for the coming year?

To get bigger. I now offer mini massage treatments, will be starting local walk in sessions for these in October. EMPRESSIVE UK Email: empressiveuk@hotmail.co.uk Booking number: 07415684944 EndFragment
